In cooperative planning between Plant 3D and Advance Steel (ADVS), a native, intelligent connection for automatic updates is missing. Since there is no automatic change detection between the systems, manual verification and adjustment of the steel structures and the associated supports are mandatory.
Prerequisites
- The steel construction design including primary supports was created in Plant 3D.
- The export to Advance Steel for finalization has been performed.
- The finished steel construction is integrated as an XREF in Plant 3D.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Check Steel Construction Changes: Regularly check the changes made to the steel construction in Advance Steel.
- Updating the XREF: Reload the XREF file in Plant 3D to make the current state of the construction visible.
Expected Result: The visual representation of the steel construction in Plant 3D matches the current planning status from Advance Steel. - Adjustment of Supports: Use the Turbo-Tools to reposition piping supports directly on the updated ADVS steel construction or to adjust existing positions.
Important Notes
- Separate Data Management: Note that the systems work technically separately. Advance Steel manages the steel construction details, while Plant 3D is responsible for piping specs and support automation.
- Standard Behavior: There is currently no automatic change tracking or notification. The responsibility for verification lies with the Plant 3D user.
- Project Management: Define clear responsibilities within the team regarding who communicates changes to the steel construction.
- Efficiency: Use Turbo Tools specifically to minimize the manual effort required for rearranging supports after steel construction changes.
Troubleshooting
- Support Left Hanging: If steel profiles have moved, supports lose their reference. Check the contact points of the supports to the steel construction after every XREF update.
