Storage location for custom block components
To permanently secure your individual customizations in SuCri Module 3, choosing the correct storage location is crucial. This article explains how to define a central storage location so that your own components are not overwritten during software updates or re-installations.
Prerequisites
- Installed version of SuCri Module 3.
- Access rights to the local file system or a network drive to create folder structures.
Step-by-step instructions
- Choose a storage location outside the bundle path: Search for a directory on your hard drive or server that is not located within the default installation directory (bundle path) of SuCri Module 3.
-
Create a central folder:
Create a new folder for your own Special Parts (e.g., under
D:\Plant3D\CustomParts\). - Store components: Consistently save your own block components in this newly created directory.
Result: Your own components are now physically separated from the standard software and remain unaffected during an update of the software components.
Important notes
- Update safety: The area in the bundle path is reserved exclusively for included content. All data stored there will be overwritten during updates.
- Project access: Ensure that all project participants have read and write permissions for the defined storage location.
- Best Practice: Use unique subfolders within your central directory for each project or client to maintain an overview.
Troubleshooting
If your own components have disappeared after an update, check whether they were mistakenly saved in the Module 3 directory instead of the external CustomParts folder.
