8.3.6. Turbo Tools do not place components
In this article, you will learn why the TurboTools may not suggest or place components and how you can fix this behavior. A correctly configured work environment is a prerequisite for the error-free function of the automation features.
Prerequisites
- An open AutoCAD Plant 3D project.
- Installed and licensed TurboTools.
Step-by-step instructions
- Actively select spec: In the Plant 3D user interface, select the desired Spec that contains the required components.
- Check spec: Ensure that the active Spec actually contains the relevant elements (e.g., supports or valves). If necessary, expand the spec using the Spec Editor.
- Run TurboTools again: Restart the TurboTools only after successfully selecting the spec.
Expected result: The matching components from the active spec are now displayed in the TurboTools tool selection and can be placed in the model.
Important notes
- TurboTools check the active spec stored in the project to filter available components.
- In projects with many specs, use a clear naming convention to avoid confusion.
- If the tool selection remains empty, this is almost always an indication of a missing or incomplete spec.
Troubleshooting
If no components appear despite an active spec:
- Check whether the components are available in the spec for the current Size.
- Ensure that the spec is correctly linked in the Project Manager and is not read-only or corrupted.
