8.4.2. Correct representation of connected components (ProfileWeldedTogether)
In Plant 3D or Advance Steel, it can happen that correctly aligned components are visually displayed as unconnected. In this guide, you will learn how to ensure a clear and consistent representation of your design by adjusting connection settings and global variables.
Prerequisites
- The components must be geometrically correctly aligned with each other.
- You have the authorization to edit the Connection dialog or the Global variables.
Step-by-step guide
- Check Connection dialog: Open the specific connection between the affected profiles. In the dialog window, activate the option ProfileWeldedTogether.
- Control Global variables: Check in the system settings whether the relevant global variables for welded connections are active. If these are deactivated, switch them back on.
- Update representation: Perform an update of the view or the entire model so that the changes take effect.
Expected result: The components are now graphically displayed as welded together and connected.
Important notes
- Standard setting: It is recommended to activate the ProfileWeldedTogether option by default to avoid misinterpretations during visual inspection.
- Consistency: Define clear project standards for welding options so that all users in the team work with the same representation.
Troubleshooting
If the components still appear separate despite the options being activated, check whether an explicit Weld definition is required for this connection in the model.
