Rounding Dimensions to One Decimal Place
In AutoCAD and Plant 3D projects, dimensions may be output with three decimal places by default. This guide explains how to adjust the dimension precision in your drawings to achieve a clearer presentation with only one decimal place.
Prerequisites
- The relevant Ortho or Module 4 drawing is open in AutoCAD / Plant 3D.
- Basic knowledge of using AutoCAD commands is available.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Type the command
DIMSTYLE(orBEMSTILin the German version) into the command line and confirm with Enter to open the Dimension Style Manager. - Select the currently used style from the list on the left side (e.g., Standard or ISO-25).
- Click the Modify... button on the right side.
- In the new window, switch to the Primary Units tab.
- Locate the Precision field and change the value from 0.000 to 0.0 (or the desired number of decimal places).
- Confirm your changes with OK and close the manager by clicking the Close button.
Result: The dimensions in your drawing will now be automatically rounded to the selected number of decimal places (e.g., "123.456" becomes "123.5").
Important Notes
- Automation: This setting is controlled by AutoCAD/Plant 3D and is not influenced by the SuCri software.
- Use Templates: To set this configuration permanently for all new drawings, you should make the change directly in your project templates (.dwt files).
- Project-Specific Styles: If different levels of precision are required for different clients, it is recommended to create separate, descriptively named dimension styles.
Troubleshooting
If the dimensions do not update immediately, type the command REGEN into the command line to regenerate the drawing display.
