Outputting the total weight of an assembly
In SuCri Module 4, you can automatically output the total weight of all components in your drawings. This allows for a dynamic display in the title block without you having to calculate or enter the values manually.
Prerequisites
- A column for Weight must be stored and active in the BOM configuration used.
- All components used in the model must have a valid weight assigned in the Plant 3D database.
Step-by-step instructions
-
Create or update drawing: Create the Module 4 drawing from scratch or perform an update. During this process, SuCri automatically sums up all individual weights from the bill of materials.
Result: The calculated total value is written internally to the drawing properties.
- Edit title block: Open your title block (for example, the block definition or the attribute definition of the template).
- Link data field: Link the desired text field with the drawing property. To do this, select the path Field → Drawing Properties → Total Weight.
-
Check display: Save the changes and update the drawing elevations.
Result: The calculated total weight is now automatically displayed at the defined position in the title block.
Important notes
- Summation: SuCri only performs the summation if the weight column is active in the bill of materials.
- Data source: The function exclusively uses data from the Plant 3D database. Manual text entries or external tables are not taken into account during the calculation.
- Best Practice: Integrate the Total Weight field permanently into your drawing template (DWT) so that the value appears automatically in future projects.
Troubleshooting
- Weight is shown as "0": Check whether all components in the BOM have a weight value in the corresponding column. Missing values in the database lead to incorrect totals.
- Field is not updating: Use the
REGENorMVIEWcommand to update field content in AutoCAD/Plant 3D.
