8.6.10. ViewCube hides components in Orthoviews after update
After a software update, it can happen in older projects that the ViewCube obscures the actual components in Ortho drawings. This guide shows you how to fix these display errors and update your views correctly.
Prerequisites
- The problem occurs specifically with existing projects created before the update.
- You have access to the 3D model files and the associated Ortho drawings.
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Manage OrthoCubes in the 3D file:
Open the 3D file and enter the command
Sucri4ShowOrthoCubeto make the OrthoCubes visible. -
Hide layers:
Select the corresponding layer of the cubes and set it to Hidden.
Result: The cubes should no longer be intrusively visible in the model space.
- Clear local cache: Clear your system's local cache to ensure that no old geometry data affects the view.
-
Update views globally:
Execute the command
SuCri4PlantOrthoUpdateAllView.Result: All views in the drawing are regenerated and displayed without the obstructing ViewCube.
Important Notes
- New creations: This effect does not occur with drawings newly created after the update.
- Manual correction: Alternatively, each view can be opened individually via Edit Mode and confirmed with OK, though this is more time-consuming.
- Background: The cause is a technical change in AutoCAD Plant 3D regarding the handling of OrthoCubes in migration projects.
Troubleshooting
If the steps mentioned above do not lead to success:
- In individual cases, the cube is displayed again after an update. In this case, repeat the process of hiding the layer explicitly before the update command.
- Should the problem persist, please send the 3D model as well as the affected Ortho drawing to technical support for detailed analysis.
