8.6.3. The profiles from the XREFs do not appear on the drawing
Correcting the Display of XREF Profiles on Drawings
In Plant 3D, it can happen that geometries from external references (XREFs) are visible in the 3D model but are missing on the drawing derived using SuCri Module 4 (M4). Learn here how to ensure all required profiles are displayed correctly by choosing the right reference type.
Prerequisites
- The 3D model in Plant 3D is open.
- The external DWG file (e.g., steel structure or building floor plan) is available in the project directory.
Step-by-Step Instructions
- Check the current integration of the XREF in the 3D model. If the profiles are missing on the drawing, this is usually due to the reference type Overlay.
- Open the XREF Manager and remove the existing reference if it is incorrectly configured.
- Navigate to the Insert menu item and select the XRef function.
- Select the corresponding file in the dialog window and click on Attach.
Expected result: The XREF is integrated as an integral part of the project context. - Save the 3D model.
- Restart the drawing generation via SuCri Module 4.
Expected result: The XREF geometries are now consistently displayed on the derived drawing.
Important Notes
- Reference Type: Generally use the type Attach for all project-related data. Only then will the geometry be processed when deriving the drawing.
- Overlay: The type Overlay should be used exclusively for temporary auxiliary constructions that are explicitly not intended to appear on the final drawing.
- Best Practice: After integrating new XREFs, perform a quick test run of the drawing generation to immediately validate the correct display.
Troubleshooting
- Problem: The profiles are not visible despite the "Attach" type.
Solution: Check the layer settings within the XREF file as well as the visibility settings in Module 4. Ensure that the layers are not set to "Frozen" or "Off".
