5. Numbering (Weld seam / Spool / Part)

Numbering

Efficiently manage numbering of welds, spools, and parts

The Numbering function provides powerful tools for automatically assigning, displaying, and removing sequential numbers on piping components. Three different operating modes in the ribbon allow you to precisely define the focus of the editing.

Automated numbering ensures that all components within a project are uniquely identifiable. This significantly simplifies documentation, material tracking, and subsequent assembly in the workshop or on the construction site. Once assigned, numbers are saved as a permanent property on the respective object, ensuring consistent data management across all project phases.

Step-by-step instructions for numbering

  1. Step 1: Set mode selection

Select the desired mode from the drop-down combo box in the ribbon. You can choose from Weld (for connections), Spool (for prefabricated assemblies), or Part (for individual components).

  2. Step 2: Perform automatic numbering

Activate the numbering function to automatically assign sequential numbers to the identified components along a selected pipeline.

  3. Step 3: Display numbers in the drawing

Turn on the visibility of the numbering annotations in the model space to check the assigned numbers directly in the view without having to open property dialogs.

  4. Step 4: Remove numbering data

To reset data, select the mode in the drop-down menu, click the Remove button, and select the corresponding pipe or section in the drawing.

Detailed functions at a glance

1. 5.1 Mode Selection

The ribbon contains a drop-down combo box with three specific modes:

2. 5.2 Numbering

Here, sequential numbers are automatically assigned to components along a selected pipeline. The main advantage is that the numbers are stored directly on the object as a property and thus remain intact throughout the component's entire life cycle.

3. 5.3 Show

This function controls the visibility of numbering annotations. Instead of checking the numbers of each object individually in the properties, all numbers can be displayed collectively in the drawing, which speeds up visual inspection.

4. 5.4 Remove

Use this command to delete all numbering data for the active mode from a selected pipeline. The process is intuitive: select the mode, start the function, and select the target object in the drawing.

Subtopics

1. 5.1 Mode Selection

The ribbon contains a drop-down combo box with three modes: Weld – Affects weld connections along a pipeline. Spool – Affects spool segments (groups of parts) grouped for prefabrication. Part – Affects individual components.

2. 5.2 Numbering

Automatically assigns sequential numbers to the components identified in the current mode along a selected pipeline. Application benefit: Once assigned, numbers are saved as a property on the object and are permanently retained.

3. 5.3 Show

Toggles the visibility of numbering annotations for the current mode. Application benefit: Instead of checking the numbers of each object individually in the properties dialog, all numbers can be displayed collectively in the drawing.

4. 5.4 Remove

Deletes all numbering data for the current mode from a selected pipeline. Procedure: Select the mode from the drop-down list. Click "Remove". Select a pipe or section in the drawing.
