4.1. Bolt Length Calculation

The "Bolt Length" provides tools for automatic calculation and updating of bolt lengths in one or more drawings of a Plant 3D project. The calculation is based on a configurable JSON data file, which defines formulas, component dimensions and rounding rules.

The bolts in the flange connections do not have to be provided with a length before the calculation. Only the bolt size is decisive: using it, the formula determines the associated values for standard parts (nut, washer, additional length) from the tables in the configuration file. Gaskets and Stub Ends are taken into account in the calculation: gaskets are included with their thickness stored in the model, and stub ends with their offset. This way, different gasket thicknesses (e.g. 2 mm and 10 mm) can also be seen in the result.
