Module 5: Installation and Activation

In this module, you will learn how to select and install the desired extensions for your workspace. This is a crucial step to finally activate the software in Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D and to be able to use the full range of functions.

Prerequisites

Before you begin with the installation and activation, ensure that the following points are met:

• An active internet connection for license verification is available.
• A supported version of Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D is already installed on your system.
• You have administrator rights on the local system.

Step-by-Step Instructions

1. Select your desired Extensions from the list in the installation menu.
2. Click Confirm (or the corresponding button) to complete the installation process for the components.
   Result: The selected modules are registered on your system.
3. Start AutoCAD Plant 3D via your desktop icon or the start menu.
4. After starting the program, activate your license in the pop-up dialog window to unlock the modules.
   Result: The software is now fully ready for use and all functions are accessible.

Important Notes

• Ensure that all instances of AutoCAD are closed during the installation of the Extensions to avoid file conflicts.
• Keep your license key safe for future re-activations or system changes.
• Check regularly for updates to the extensions to ensure system stability.

Troubleshooting

• License cannot be activated: Check your firewall settings and ensure that the connection to the activation servers is not blocked.
• Extensions do not appear in Plant 3D: Perform a full restart of your system and check whether the plugin directory has been correctly assigned in the options.
