SpecCheck
Validate pipe specs. Import components. Manage Python.

SpecCheck is the Plant 3D™ plug-in for administrators — built by practitioners who work daily with complex pipe specs, mass component imports, and Python-based catalogs. It automates the most error-prone steps in spec maintenance and gives you complete control over geometries and scripts without leaving Plant 3D™.

Features

What SpecCheck delivers for Plant 3D™ administrators

Spec maintenance in Plant 3D™ is time-consuming: manually testing pipe specs, importing components one by one, managing Python scripts outside Plant 3D™. SpecCheck automates these processes and integrates them directly into the Plant 3D™ workflow.

Automated pipe spec testing

SpecCheck tests pipe specs automatically for completeness, consistency, and standards compliance — without manual individual checks. Error reports show exactly which entries need correction.

Powerful component import

Import hundreds of components in a single pass — from Excel, CSV, or directly from manufacturer datasheets. SpecCheck validates geometries during import and reports conflicts immediately.

Geometry validation

Bounding box checks, connection point validation, and parameter verification for all imported components. Particularly valuable for Python-based components where geometry errors surface late.

Python script management

Edit, test, and deploy Python scripts for components directly in Plant 3D™ — no switching to an external editor. Script change versioning and rollback included.

Bulk actions & automation

Mass changes to pipe spec entries, automatic filling of missing attributes, and rule-based corrections — configured once, executed with a single click.

Maintenance & updates included

Floating license with 1 year maintenance: all updates and compatibility patches for new Plant 3D™ versions are included in the first year. Renewal at reduced rates possible.

Implementation

From request to productive use

SpecCheck is designed as a plug-in — installation takes minutes, no server components, no IT project.

01

Demo & consultation

We demonstrate SpecCheck using your own Plant 3D™ environment — with your pipe specs, your components. You see immediately where SpecCheck delivers the greatest time savings.

02

License & installation

Floating license is set up on your license server. The plug-in is installed on Plant 3D™ workstations. Typical installation time: under one hour.

03

Training & productive use

Brief training for your Plant 3D™ administrators — then directly into productive use. The first pipe spec tests and bulk imports demonstrate the time savings on the same day.

Applications

The tasks SpecCheck was built for

SpecCheck solves specific, recurring problems in Plant 3D™ administration — not as a general-purpose tool, but as a precision instrument for the tasks where manual processes are most error-prone.

Pipe spec introduction & migration

New pipe specs are fully checked for consistency, missing attributes, and standards compliance before going into production. Migrations from other systems are secured through automated import checks.

  • Completeness check for all mandatory fields in pipe specs
  • Standards-compliant attributes: ANSI, DIN, ISO — automatically checked
  • Consistency check between pipe spec and component library
  • Migration reports for audit and documentation

Manufacturer content integration

Components from Endress+Hauser, Georg Fischer, Swagelok, and other manufacturers are transferred into Plant 3D™ via bulk import — with automatic geometry validation and conflict checking.

  • Bulk import from Excel/CSV — hundreds of components in a single pass
  • Bounding box validation of all imported geometries
  • Automatic detection and reporting of duplicates
  • Import log for quality assurance and documentation

Python-based catalog maintenance

Python scripts for parametric components are edited and tested directly in Plant 3D™. Syntax errors, missing parameters, and incorrect connection points are detected before deployment.

  • Integrated Python editor directly in Plant 3D™
  • Syntax checking and parameter validation before deployment
  • Test run with defined nominal sizes and pressure classes
  • Version management for script changes

Ongoing spec maintenance

Regular quality checks of the entire pipe spec library — automated, with clear reports for Plant 3D™ administrators and project managers.

  • Scheduled pipe spec checks — automatable
  • Delta reports: what has changed since the last check?
  • Exportable reports for project documentation
  • Rule-based corrections for recurring error types

Licensing

Floating License with Maintenance

FAQ

SpecCheck · FAQ

SpecCheck is primarily aimed at Plant 3D™ administrators, that is, people who create and maintain pipe specs, manage component libraries and develop Python scripts for parametric components. Not designed for standard Plant 3D™ users.

SpecCheck is compatible with Plant 3D™ 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. The floating license including maintenance ensures that compatibility updates for new Plant 3D™ versions are included in the first year.

One year of maintenance is included in the license price. This covers all feature updates, bug fixes and compatibility patches for new Plant 3D™ versions. Renewal at reduced rates is possible after the first year.

Yes. We conduct a demo in your Plant 3D™ environment, with your own pipe specs and components. This allows you to see before purchase exactly where SpecCheck fits into your specific workflow.

The plug-in is provided as an MSI package. The floating license runs via a license server in your network. Typical installation time including license server setup is under one hour. IntegaDesign accompanies the initial installation.

Yes. The floating license is specifically designed for multi-user environments. Multiple Plant 3D™ administrators can use SpecCheck simultaneously, up to the licensed seat count.

SpecCheck systematically inspects pipe classes for typical sources of error: missing or duplicated components, inconsistent connectors, faulty size tables, invalid properties and geometry deviations from the spec entry. Python scripts for parametric components are also checked against the spec for consistency.

After each run, SpecCheck delivers a structured Excel report with categorized findings, affected components and the relevant spec reference. Each finding includes resolution hints so administrators can work through the results in priority order.

Manually clicking through a pipe class is time-consuming and still misses individual inconsistencies. SpecCheck inspects complete pipe classes with all components and scripts in seconds, uncovers systematic sources of error and enables reproducible quality assurance across all projects.

Yes. SpecCheck includes an extensible rule set for company-specific standards, such as proprietary component groups, in-house norms or customer-specific conventions. IntegaDesign assists with configuration and the creation of custom check rules.

Yes. SpecCheck operates at the native Plant 3D™ spec level and is therefore compatible with all IntegaDesign products. Pipe classes containing SuCri® supports or Content Pack components are checked the same way.

For a Plant 3D™ administrator who regularly maintains pipe classes, payback typically falls below six months. Avoiding even a single costly spec error in production often covers the license within the first quarter.
