4.2.10. Detach (SuCri2DetachSupport)
4.2.10. Detach (SuCri2DetachSupport)
This manual describes in detail the Detach (SuCri2DetachSupport) function of SuCri, a plugin for AutoCAD Plant 3D and Advance Steel. You will learn how to efficiently detach supports, pipe clamps, or other construction elements from their source components in order to edit them independently.
Prerequisites
- Software: Installed license of Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D or Autodesk Advance Steel.
- Plugin: The SuCri Plugin (Module 2) from IntegaDesign GmbH must be installed and activated.
- Project Status: An open project with at least one support that is currently linked to another element (e.g., pipe or beam).
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Open SuCri menu:
Navigate to the SuCri ribbon bar in your model. Look for the SuCri2DetachSupport option, which is usually found in the Module 2 - Functions section. Alternatively, enter the command
SuCri2DetachSupportdirectly into the command line. -
Activate "Detach" command:
Click the Detach button. The command line will now prompt you to select an object.
-
Select individual part to detach:
Click on the component (e.g., a pipe clamp or support) that is to be separated. If necessary, confirm the selection with the Enter key.
-
Select source component (optional):
If the system prompts you, select the source component or anchor point (e.g., the beam) from which the connection should be detached.
-
Confirmation and Execution:
After selection, SuCri performs the separation. The component retains its intelligent properties but is now geometrically independent.
-
Verify separation:
Move the component as a test. The expected result is that the element can be moved freely without affecting the position of the original anchor point.
Important Notes
- Intelligent Objects: Detaching only removes the geometrical anchoring; metadata and intelligent properties of the component are preserved.
- Repositioning: After detaching, the object can be freely transformed in space and, if necessary, re-attached at a new location.
- Undo: Use the standard AutoCAD function (Ctrl+Z) to undo an accidental detachment. There is no system-side "auto-reattach" after the command.
- Saving Process: Save your project regularly, especially before making extensive structural changes.
Troubleshooting
- "Object not selectable": Check if the object's layer is locked and if it is a supported SuCri component.
- "Command not found": Ensure the plugin is marked as loaded in the AutoCAD/Advance Steel Plugin Manager.
- "Detach has no effect": Check if the object is additionally fixed via native AutoCAD groups or blocks, as these are not detached by the command.
