4.2.21. Detach Xref (SuCri2DetachXref)
Detach Xref (SuCri2DetachXref)
In this guide, you will learn how to use the SuCri Detach function to separate previously linked elements in AutoCAD Plant 3D or Advance Steel. This is necessary to be able to edit or delete components such as pipelines and supports independently of one another again.
Prerequisites
- The SuCri plugin is installed and activated in AutoCAD Plant 3D or Advance Steel.
- There is an active link between two elements (e.g., through the Copy or Move with Support functions).
- The corresponding drawing or project is already open.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Initialize the Detach Command
- Navigate to the SuCri tab in the Ribbon of your CAD application.
- Click the Detach button (symbolized by a broken chain).
- Alternative: Enter the command
SuCri2DetachXrefdirectly into the command line and confirm with Enter.
- Alternative: Enter the command
Expected Result: The cursor changes to a selection cross and the command line prompts you to select objects.
Step 2: Selection of the Object to be Detached
- Click on the object that is to be detached from the link (e.g., the pipe support).
- Make sure to select the attached component, not the primary Xref source.
Expected Result: The selected object is graphically highlighted.
Step 3: Confirm the Selection
- Press the Enter key to complete the process. You can also select multiple objects sequentially beforehand to detach them at the same time.
Expected Result: SuCri severs the link. A confirmation message appears in the command line.
Step 4: Verify the Separation
- Use the AutoCAD MOVE command to move the detached element.
- If the object moves independently of the original source, the separation was successful.
Expected Result: The object now behaves as an independent entity.
Important Notes
- Dependencies: After detaching, automatic functions such as size adjustments or positioning will no longer be applied to this object.
- Undo: The process can be undone using the standard UNDO command (
CTRL + Z). - Geometry: The geometry remains unchanged; only the logical link is deleted.
Troubleshooting
- Object still cannot be moved: Check the object properties to see if it is truly a SuCri Xref link or if another block reference is present. If necessary, repeat the process after restarting the drawing.
- Command unknown: Check whether the SuCri plugin is correctly loaded. If necessary, reload the plugin manually or restart the application.
