4.2.6. Bracket [x] (SuCri2AutoSelectMultipleSupport)
Support [x] (SuCri2AutoSelectMultipleSupport)
This manual describes how to use the Support [x] function of the SuCri plugin in AutoCAD Plant 3D and Advance Steel. This function allows you to efficiently integrate multiple supports simultaneously into your modeling based on an automatic selection of pipes and beams.
Prerequisites
You should meet the following requirements before using the function:- Software Installation: AutoCAD Plant 3D or Advance Steel must be installed and activated.
- SuCri Plugin: The plugin (at least version 2.x for Module 2) must be correctly installed and loaded.
- Basic Knowledge: Confident handling of the AutoCAD user interface as well as the creation of piping and structural steel elements.
- Model: An existing 3D model with pipes and beams to which the supports can be attached.
Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Prepare the Model
- Start AutoCAD Plant 3D or Advance Steel.
- Open the relevant DWG file containing your pipes and beams.
Expected Result: The 3D model with the elements to be edited is visible in the model space.
Step 2: Access the Function
- Switch to the SuCri tab in the Ribbon.
- Locate the Support [x] button (Tooltip:
SuCri2AutoSelectMultipleSupport) and click it.
Expected Result: The function is activated, and the command line prompts you to select objects.
Step 3: Select Pipes
- Select the pipes for which supports should be generated (via individual selection or window/crossing).
- Confirm the selection with the Enter key.
Expected Result: The selected pipes are highlighted.
Step 4: Select Beams
- Now select the beam objects (structural steel) to which the supports should be attached.
- Confirm again with the Enter key.
Expected Result: SuCri begins the automatic calculation and placement of the components.
Step 5: Verify the Result
- Check the automatically generated support constructions (e.g., clamps, threaded rods, beam clamps) in the model space.
- If necessary, click on individual components to adjust their Properties in the AutoCAD Properties palette.
Expected Result: The supports correctly connect the pipes to the beams.
Important Notes
- Visibility: Objects must not be on locked or hidden layers.
- Object Types: The function only recognizes native Plant 3D Pipes and Advance Steel Beams. Simple 3D solids are ignored.
- Performance: For a very large number of objects, the calculation may take a few seconds.
- Shortcuts: Use the Spacebar or Enter key to confirm and Esc to cancel the command.
Troubleshooting
- Command not found: Check if the plugin is correctly loaded and your license is active. Restart AutoCAD if necessary.
- Supports are not generated: Ensure that the pipes and beams are positioned spatially such that an attachment is logically possible (overlap in projection).
- Incorrect components: Check the SuCri configuration files for preset support types and rule sets.
- System crash: Save your model before performing complex automations and, if necessary, reduce the number of objects selected at once.
