4.2.8. Clamping System [x] (SuCri2AutoSelectMultipleClamp)

This manual describes the use of the SuCri Clamping System (Module 2), specifically the SuCri2AutoSelectMultipleClamp function. With this function, you automatically place clamps and hangers on several selected pipelines under a beam to optimize the planning process in AutoCAD Plant 3D and Advance Steel.

Prerequisites

Before using the clamping system, please ensure that the following points are met:

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Prepare CAD Software: Start AutoCAD Plant 3D or Advance Steel and load the model with the relevant beams and pipelines.
  2. Call SuCri Function: Navigate to the SuCri tab in the ribbon menu. Under Module 2 - Functions, select the command Clamping System [x] or SuCri2AutoSelectMultipleClamp.
  3. Select Beam: In the 3D model, click directly on the beam that is to serve as the reference element for the attachment. Confirm the selection with Enter.
  4. Select Pipelines: Now select all pipelines that are to be attached under the beam. You can do this via individual selection (holding the Ctrl key) or via window selection over all relevant lines. Confirm with Enter.
Result: The selection is stored in the system for automatic generation.
  5. Define Parameters (Optional): If a dialog window opens, you can make the following settings:
    • Distance between clamps
    • Type of clamping system (e.g., single or double clamp)
    • Materials/Sizes according to pipe specification
    • Offset (horizontal/vertical distance)
Click OK to apply the values.
  6. Automatic Generation: The plugin now generates the pipe clamps, hangers or threaded rods, as well as the beam anchor systems. This process may take a few seconds depending on the complexity.
  7. Review: Check the result in the 3D model by zooming and rotating. Pay attention to correct positioning and potential collisions.
