4.2.2. Selection (SuCri2SelectSupport)
Selection (SuCri2SelectSupport)
This guide will walk you through using the Selection function in the SuCri plugin for AutoCAD Plant 3D. You will learn how to isolate specific components from complex assemblies to temporarily separate them for further editing or verification.
Prerequisites
- AutoCAD Plant 3D: A working version must be installed on your system.
- SuCri Plugin: The plugin from IntegaDesign must be successfully integrated into AutoCAD Plant 3D.
- Project Model: An open Plant 3D project with a model containing complex assemblies (e.g., piping with a support on a beam).
- Basic Knowledge: Familiarity with navigating the model space and object selection in AutoCAD.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Workspace
- Start AutoCAD Plant 3D via your desktop icon or the start menu.
- Open the relevant DWG file of your project containing the assembly to be edited.
- Look for the SuCri or IntegaDesign tab in the ribbon.
Visual Tip: Look for the "SuCri" label with the stylized cube logo.
Step 2: Activate the "Selection" Function
- Locate the button for the Selection function in the SuCri toolbar (technical command:
SUCRI2SELECTSUPPORT). - Left-click on the button.
Expected Result: The command is activated. The mouse cursor changes to a crosshair or selection square, and the command line prompts you to select objects.
Step 3: Select the Primary Component
- Position the cursor over the component you want to isolate (e.g., the pipe of a support construction).
- Left-click the component.
Expected Result: The component is visually highlighted (e.g., by glowing or blue grips).
Step 4: Confirm Selection and Execute Separation
- Confirm the selection by left-clicking the object again or by pressing the Enter key.
Expected Result: The component is detached from its hierarchical relationship with the assembly. Connection lines between the pipe and support change or are removed; the pipe can now be edited independently.
Step 5: Verify the Result
- Perform a visual inspection by rotating and zooming the model.
- Check the status by moving the pipe individually or opening the properties window with
CTRL+1to check the assembly assignment.
Important Notes
- Data Backup: Save your model (
CTRL+S) before using this function to be able to discard changes if necessary. - Focus: The "Selection" function is primarily intended for separating. Other tools are required to restore connections.
- Shortcuts: Use ESC to cancel, CTRL+Z to undo, and the Spacebar to confirm.
Troubleshooting
- Button Grayed Out: Check if the plugin is correctly loaded and if you are in an editable P3D file.
- Object Not Selectable: Ensure that the component is not on a locked layer or part of an external reference (XRef).
- No Separation: Check the command line for error messages. The object might not be defined as "support-relevant" for this specific function.
