4.2.5. Exporting Supports (SuCri2ExportPrimarySupport)
This guide describes the process of exporting primary supports from an AutoCAD Plant 3D drawing (DWG) using the command SuCri2ExportPrimarySupport (Module 3). The exported supports, including their tags, can then be imported into Autodesk Advance Steel as Special Parts to ensure seamless integration in the design workflow.
Prerequisites
Before starting the export process, ensure that the following requirements are met:
- Installed AutoCAD Plant 3D: A working version is required.
- Installed SuCri-Plugin: The plugin must be correctly integrated into AutoCAD Plant 3D.
- Valid Module 3 License: Without this license, the command will not function.
- Existing Primary Supports: The active DWG drawing must already contain primary supports.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Start AutoCAD Plant 3D and Open DWG
- Start AutoCAD Plant 3D.
- Open the DWG file containing the primary supports to be exported.
- Expected Result: The drawing is visible in the workspace and ready for editing.
Step 2: Access the AutoCAD Command Line
- Press the F2 key to open the AutoCAD text window, or use the command line at the bottom of the screen.
- Expected Result: The command line is active and ready for input.
Step 3: Enter the Export Command
- Type the command
SuCri2ExportPrimarySupportprecisely into the command line and confirm with Enter. - Note: Ensure correct spelling as this is a hidden command.
- Expected Result: The SuCri plugin initiates the export process.
Step 4: Check the Confirmation Dialog
- A dialog box appears showing the specific target path within the Module 3 bundle.
- Expected Result: A dialog with path information is displayed.
Step 5: Confirm the Export Process
- Click the OK button in the dialog box.
- Expected Result: All primary supports of the active DWG are exported to the target path along with their tags. The dialog closes automatically.
Step 6: Verification in the Installation Path (Optional)
- Navigate to the path specified in the dialog using Windows Explorer.
- Expected Result: The exported files (e.g., in XML format) are present in the directory.
Step 7: Import into Advance Steel
- Open Autodesk Advance Steel.
- Use the command
SuCri2ImportPrimarySupportto read the data. - Expected Result: The supports are imported at their correct positions as Special Parts.
Important Notes
- Hidden Command: The command is not accessible via the user interface (Ribbon) and must be typed manually.
- Tag Export: Carrying over the tags is crucial for identifying the components in Advance Steel.
- Path Specification: Make a note of the export path from Step 4 if you need to manage files manually.
Troubleshooting
- Command Not Recognized: Check the spelling of
SuCri2ExportPrimarySupportor ensure that the plugin has been loaded correctly. - License Error: Check if your Module 3 license is active.
- No Supports Exported: Ensure that the supports in the current DWG are defined as primary supports.
