4.2.9. Clamping System (SuCri2AutoSelectClamp)
This instruction describes in detail how to use the SuCri module Clamping System (SuCri2AutoSelectClamp) for AutoCAD Plant 3D and Advance Steel. You will learn how to automatically place and align hangers, clamps, and pendulum rods on steel beams to efficiently secure pipelines.
Prerequisites
Before using the module, ensure that the following conditions are met:
- Installed Software: AutoCAD Plant 3D or Advance Steel is installed and the SuCri Plugin from IntegaDesign GmbH is fully activated.
- Basic Knowledge: You are familiar with navigating the model space and selecting objects.
- Existing Model: A CAD model containing at least one steel beam and one pipe (or comparable element) is available.
Step-by-Step Instructions
Step 1: Accessing the Function
- Open your project in AutoCAD Plant 3D or Advance Steel.
- Navigate to the SuCri tab in the ribbon.
- Click on the command Clamping System or SuCri2AutoSelectClamp.
Step 2: Selecting the Object to be Suspended
- The program prompts you to select the object.
- Click on the corresponding pipeline in the model.
- Confirm the selection with the Enter key or the right mouse button.
Step 3: Selecting the Supporting Component
- Click on the steel beam (e.g., I or U profile) to which the clamp is to be attached.
- Confirm the selection again.
Step 4: Positioning on the Beam
- A dynamic preview model of the clamping system appears.
- Move the mouse along the steel beam to determine the position. The system aligns the pendulum rod automatically.
- Click on the desired position to place the clamp firmly.
- Press ESC to terminate the command after placement.
Step 5: Adjusting Parameters
If configured, a dialog window opens for the following adjustments:
- Clamp Type: Selection of specific beam clamps.
- Pendulum Rod Length: Manual correction of the distance.
- Material: Selection of the surface finish.
- Fixing Type: Specification of the screw connections.
Confirm your changes with OK.
Step 6: Verifying the Result
- Check the 3D view to ensure the clamp is seated correctly on the flange.
- Ensure there are no collisions with other components.
- Expected Result: A vertically aligned support that encloses the pipe and is firmly anchored to the beam.
Important Notes
- Precision: Use Object Snap (F3) to accurately target pipes and beams.
- Catalogs: The function is based on component catalogs. Ensure these are up to date.
- Performance: Hide unnecessary layers in very complex models to ensure a smooth preview.
- Hierarchy: The clamping system is usually inserted as a block; take this into account for manual changes.
Troubleshooting
- System is not placed: Check if the objects are valid CAD objects. Restart the command.
- Incorrect Alignment: Delete the element and reposition it while observing the snap points.
- Missing Components: Check the installation of the SuCri libraries or contact support.
