From today we are making Plant 3D MCP available free of charge. The add-in connects Claude, the AI assistant by Anthropic, to AutoCAD Plant 3D. Claude does not work with lines and blocks, but with what makes Plant 3D what it is: pipe specs, line numbers, tags and the project database.
We first built Plant 3D MCP for our own project work, where we use it every day. Now we are passing it on.
82 tools for the whole workflow
The tools cover nine areas: reading the project, changing project data, working in drawings, checking models, building models, taking over existing models, projects, pipe specs and isometrics, P&IDs and orthographic drawings. For example, Claude can pull line and valve lists from the project database, route pipes from the pipe spec, place supports and steel, check clashes and create isometrics.
An example: a pump station in minutes
In our video Claude builds a pump skid with base frame, three pumps, suction and discharge lines, instruments and supports from instructions. Pure modelling time was about seven minutes. At the end a designer checks the model by hand, because the engineering responsibility stays with the engineer. You will find the video and pictures of the process on the product page.
Safe in a live project
Every tool performs exactly one fixed Plant 3D operation, there is deliberately no tool for arbitrary commands. Changes to several objects first come back as a plan and are only carried out after confirmation. Locked objects and line groups are refused, bulk changes need a filter.
Requirements and important notes
Plant 3D MCP runs with AutoCAD Plant 3D 2025, 2026 and 2027 on Windows and exclusively with Claude, in Claude Code or Claude Desktop. You need your own Claude account with Anthropic. We provide the software free of charge, as is and without support. Claude transfers the results of the tools to Anthropic, so before using it you should turn off the use of your data for AI training in your Claude account. All notes on use at your own responsibility are on the product page.
Request it now, free of charge
On the product page Plant 3D MCP you can request the add-in free of charge. We will send you the download by email.
