Advance Steel cannot find Hilti profiles
In this article, you will learn how to fix the problem of missing profile categories in Advance Steel, which is often caused by Windows display settings. This ensures that you have access to special profiles such as those from Hilti or SuCri libraries at all times.
Prerequisites
- You are using Advance Steel on a high-resolution monitor (e.g., 4K).
- The category Other Profiles is not listed in the profile selection.
Step-by-Step Guide
- Close Advance Steel completely.
- Right-click on your desktop and select Display settings.
- Locate the Scale and layout section. Set the value for Change the size of text, apps, and other items to 100%.
- If necessary, temporarily reduce the Display resolution to a standard value (e.g., 1920 x 1080).
-
Restart Advance Steel and open the Profile selection.
Expected Result: The category Other Profiles as well as the specific Hilti profiles are now visible in the list.
- After you have selected and used the desired profiles, you can reset your Windows display settings back to their original values.
Important Notes
- Compatibility: Advance Steel is optimized for classic HD or FHD resolutions with a scaling of 100%.
- UI Presentation: With scaling above 100%, dropdown menus or categories are often not loaded correctly or appear cut off.
- Permanent Solution: A software-side correction can currently only be made via future updates by Autodesk.
Troubleshooting
If the profiles do not appear despite 100% scaling:
- Check whether the database paths are correctly stored in the Management Tools.
- Use Compatibility Mode: Right-click on the Advance Steel shortcut > Properties > Compatibility > Change high DPI settings > enable Override high DPI scaling behavior.
