8.5.5. Primary supports and clamping systems missing from the Advance Steel bill of materials
This article explains why primary supports and clamping systems are intentionally omitted from the Advance Steel bill of materials and how to evaluate them correctly. This is important to avoid errors in material ordering caused by duplicate entries.
Prerequisites
- Modeling of primary supports and clamping systems in AutoCAD Plant 3D.
- Use of the SuCri modules for data exchange and MTO creation.
Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Correct evaluation of components
Use the modules intended for the respective component groups to obtain a consistent bill of materials:
- Evaluate primary supports and clamping systems exclusively via the SuCri Module 2 (MTO) in Plant 3D.
- The complete count of the secondary steelwork, on the other hand, is carried out directly in Advance Steel.
Result: You receive two clearly separated lists without overlaps.
2. Visualization in Advance Steel
Use the import function in Advance Steel exclusively for the graphical enhancement of your plans:
- Import the brackets to display primary supports in relation to the steelwork on the drawing.
- Use the imported objects for dimensioning and for creating labels.
Result: The assembly drawings are complete and correctly dimensioned, while the bill of materials (BOM) remains clean.
Important Notes
- Deactivation: Primary supports and clamping systems are intentionally deactivated in the Advance Steel BOM (Bill of Materials) to prevent duplicate counting.
- Purpose of the import function: The import function in Advance Steel is for visualization and drawing creation, not for bill of materials generation.
- Data consistency: Ensure that changes to supports are primarily carried out in the Plant 3D model.
Troubleshooting
If components are missing from your lists or appear twice, check the following points:
- Duplicate entry: Ensure that no secondary steel components have been manually entered in Plant 3D that already exist in Advance Steel.
- MTO settings: Check in SuCri Module 2 whether all required support classes have been selected for export.
