4.1.8. Example: Reconfiguring a Hex Screw to a Screw Bolt

    If stud bolts or threaded rods are to be used instead of classic hex bolts, the calculation formula can be adjusted accordingly via "Load Data". The typical difference is that a stud bolt requires two nuts and two protrusions, while a hex bolt uses only one nut and one protrusion.

    Procedure:

    • In the "Bolt Length" section, click "Load Data" and open the Excel configuration file.
    • Switch to the Formula tab and navigate to the row with the desired nominal diameter and end code (e.g., DN 100 with FL).
    • Set the NUT multiplier to 2 and the ADDITIONAL multiplier to 2. The multipliers for WASHER, gasket, and flange thickness remain unchanged.
    • Adjust the SIZE_DESCRIPTION and FAMILY_DESCRIPTION columns, for example to Stud Bolt &&& x @@@ with 2 Hex Nuts and 2 Washers. The placeholders &&& (bolt size) and @@@ (bolt length) must be retained.
    • Save the Excel file. PiCri will automatically convert it to the JSON configuration.
    • Execute "Update". The calculated bolt lengths will be longer due to the additional nut and the second protrusion, and the PartSizeLongDesc and PartFamilyLongDesc properties will receive the new descriptive texts.
