4.3.6. Place Elements (Additional Components)

Updated on 27/08/2026

On this page

Automatically places additional components (e.g., fastener kits, connectors) at pipe connections based on a configurable mapping. This is used, for example, to place screw accessories at cable tray connections.

Ribbon Button: AutoRouting > Place Elements
    Command: PiCriPlaceAdditionalItems

    How it works:

    1. PiCri loads the mapping rules from the "AdditionalComponents.json" file (see Section 6.8).
    2. It scans all connectors in the active drawing that have two connected parts.
    3. For each connection, it reads the PartFamilyLongDesc of both connected parts.
    4. It searches the mapping for a rule where FirstPart and SecondPart match the two descriptions (in any order).
    5. For each match, it places the specified number of dummy support elements at the connection point and sets their descriptions and ISO symbol definitions from the mapping.
    6. Previously placed dummy elements (from a previous run) are automatically deleted before new elements are placed.

Progress and results are displayed in the command line.
