SuCri software overview – Efficient steel construction in CAD
In this article you will learn how to efficiently implement primary and secondary steel construction within your CAD environment using the software SuCri. We explain the modular structure of the software, the necessary system requirements as well as the optimal workflow for your design processes.
Prerequisites
Before you begin your work, please make sure that the following software environments are pre-installed and ready for use:
- AutoCAD® Plant 3D: This environment is absolutely required for the use of all modules.
- Advance Steel: This software is specifically required for detailed editing with Module 3.
Step-by-step guide: Using the modules in the workflow
The software SuCri has a modular structure. To ensure an optimal project workflow, please use the modules in the following order:

Module 1: Applying the component catalogue for Plant 3D
Here you use the manufacturer-based component catalogue. The technology based on the logic for component creation gives you direct access to components in the model space.
Expected result: A precise, detailed representation of your planning combined with high system performance.

Module 2: Configuring the plugin bundle for Plant 3D
In this step you extend the functions of your pipe-enclosing components. Through the stored logic and mapping tables you automate manual processes directly in the system.
Expected result: Significant efficiency increase and minimisation of errors during subsequent changes.

Module 3: Finalisation in Advance Steel or Plant 3D
You use this module for the final elaboration of the connection components of the secondary steel construction, either directly in Plant 3D or via an export to Advance Steel.
Expected result: Finished support model with intelligent connections according to the manufacturer's specifications.

Module 4: Automating drawing creation
You activate the extension for Plant 3D within the ortho environment in order to have your secondary steel construction drawings generated automatically.
Expected result: Timely completion of fabrication drawings while retaining the familiar working environment.
Important notes
- Module dependency: Note that Module 2 serves as a supplement and is only functional in combination with an installed Module 1.
- Best practice: We recommend the consistent use of the logic tables in Module 2 to avoid error-prone manual entries and to increase data consistency.
- Experience values: The component functions are based on many years of practical experience in Plant 3D, which guarantees a high relevance for the industrial planning routine.
Troubleshooting
Should challenges arise during use, please check the following approaches to a solution:
- Missing component display: Should components not be displayed correctly in the model space, make sure that the corresponding catalogues from Module 1 are correctly pathed and loaded in AutoCAD® Plant 3D.
- Export problems: In case of difficulties with the data exchange to Advance Steel, please check the configuration settings of the respective manufacturer within the settings of Module 3.
