Storage location for your own block components

To permanently secure your individual adjustments in SuCri Module 3, the choice of the correct storage location is decisive. This article explains how to define a central storage location so that your own components are not overwritten during software updates or reinstallations.

Prerequisites

  • Installed version of SuCri Module 3.
  • Access rights to the local file system or a network drive for creating folder structures.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Choose a storage location outside the bundle path: Look for a directory on your hard disk or the server that is not located within the standard installation directory (bundle path) of SuCri Module 3.
  2. Create a central folder: Create a new folder for your own Special Parts (e.g. under D:\Plant3D\CustomParts\).
  3. Store the components: Consistently save your own block components in this newly created directory.

Result: Your own components are now physically separated from the standard software and remain untouched during an update of the software components.

Important notes

  • Update safety: The area in the bundle path is reserved exclusively for supplied content. All data stored there is overwritten during updates.
  • Project access: Make sure that all project participants have read and write rights for the defined storage location.
  • Best practice: Use unique subfolders within your central directory for each project or customer in order to keep track of things.

Troubleshooting

If your own components have disappeared after an update, check whether they were mistakenly stored in the Module 3 directory instead of in the external CustomParts folder.
