    Overview

Support Xref [x] places several supports in one pass on pipes that run past a beam, where the beam lies in an external reference (Xref). It is the Xref variant of Support [x]. Clamping systems are not placed.

Where can I find the function?

On the SuCri tab, Module 2 group, open the dashboard with your manufacturer button and switch to Turbo Tools. There you will find the Support Xref [x] button. If the dashboard is pinned to the tool palette, the command is located in the Multiple Placement section to the right of the variant without Xref, with a link icon and the tooltip Support (Xref).

Alternatively, enter SuCri2SelectMultipleSupportFromRef in the command line.

    How it works in detail

    1. Select the beam in the reference: The command line prompts Select nested object in a reference (0 selected):. Click the objects in the external reference one by one. Each selected object is highlighted and the counter increases. Press Enter or use the Done option to finish the selection; use Cancel to abort. Steel profiles, concrete and solids as well as supports that serve as a profile are evaluated.

    2. Select support: For each beam, SuCri searches for the pipes in its range, sorts them from top to bottom and determines the permitted supports. The command line shows Select available support: with the list of matching supports. The choice then applies to all further pipes.

    3. Place: SuCri places a support at every intersection of pipe and beam. If no suitable support can be placed on a pipe, the pipe is marked and skipped.

    Application examples

Example 1: Pipe rack from the steel construction reference

The pipes are in your drawing, the pipe rack comes as an Xref from the steel construction. Click the cross beam in the reference, finish with Done and select the support. All pipes above the beam receive a support.

    Tips and best practices

    • Reference type: The Xref does not have to be attached. The Overlay reference type works just as well and is the default. Attach is only necessary if the references are also to appear on the Module 4 drawing.
    • One beam, many pipes: You select the beams in the reference, not the individual locations. SuCri determines the positions itself.
    • Several beams possible: You can click several objects in the reference one after another before finishing with Done.
    • Force the same support: As usual with multiple placement, the ForceSameSupport setting controls whether the same or a similar support is used for all positions.
    • Add clamps later: If the clamping systems are missing, add them afterwards with Clamp Xref [x].

    Troubleshooting

    • No support placed: SuCri did not find any pipes within reach of the beam, or there is no suitable support. Check the distances and the settings Space above structure and Space below structure.
    • Cannot find suitable support. Make sure the distance is valid. The distance between pipe and beam does not match any support of the spec.
    • *Cancel* The reference selection was ended with Cancel or Esc.
