4.5.14. Annotate view with custom annotations (SuCri4PlantOrthoCustomAnnotate)

Overview

Annotate view with custom annotations (SUCRI4PlantOrthoCustomAnnotate) automatically annotates an ortho view with your own annotation formats. Unlike the ortho annotations of Plant 3D™, you define the content of the annotation yourself, for example {SuNo}-{Size}: each property in curly brackets is replaced by the value of the respective part.

Where can I find the function?

In the Module 4 window under Drawings or Quick Access, there Auto Custom Annotations. If Module 4 is pinned to the tool palette, you will find the function in the Annotation group under Custom Annotations. Alternatively via the command line with SUCRI4PlantOrthoCustomAnnotate.

How it works in detail

1. Call the function:

   Open the ortho drawing and switch to the layout. The command only works there. Call the function in the Module 4 window, in the tool palette or via the command line.

2. Select the viewport:

   Select the viewport that is to be annotated.

3. Define how existing annotations are handled:

   At the prompt Do you want to delete the old annotation? select 0. Append (keep existing ones and add to them), 1. Replace Auto Generated (replace only automatically generated ones, default) or 2. Replace All (replace all annotations in the view).

4. Select the format:

   Select one of your own annotation formats. SuCri uses it to annotate the matching parts of the view. An annotation whose properties are all empty is not placed.

Settings

You create the formats in the Settings window: SuCri tab, Settings button, or command SuCriSettings, then the Module 4 tab > Annotation > Custom annotation formats. Each format has a name and a pattern such as {SuNo}-{Size}. Save the changes with Save.

Tips and best practices

• Meaningful names: Name the formats according to their purpose so that you can quickly choose the right one when calling the function.
• Combine several passes: With Append you add another format to a view without losing existing annotations.
• Undo: Use Ctrl+Z to reverse an accidental action.

Troubleshooting

• "Wrong drawing": The command only works in the layout of an ortho drawing. Open the ortho drawing and switch from the Model tab to the layout.
• No formats to choose from: No custom annotation formats have been created yet in the Module 4 settings.
• Annotation missing on individual parts: The properties used in the format are empty for these parts.
