Learn how to solve problems with the display of custom profiles in Navisworks by installing the appropriate Advance Steel Object Enabler. A correct display of the components is essential for the visual check and coordination of your models.

Prerequisites

  • The SuCri custom profiles are displayed correctly in Advance Steel.
  • You have access to the Autodesk Account Portal or the Autodesk Desktop App to download software extensions.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Identify the version of your installed Advance Steel and Navisworks software (e.g. version 2026).
  2. Download the current Advance Steel Object Enabler that corresponds exactly to your installed version.
  3. Close all running Autodesk applications.
  4. Perform the installation of the Object Enabler.
Expected result: The enabler ensures that the special Advance Steel objects (profiles, connections, custom parts) are interpreted correctly in Navisworks.
  5. Restart Navisworks and open your model again.
Expected result: The profiles are now displayed as full solids and no longer just as a wireframe.

Important notes

  • Version matching: Make sure that the version of the enabler matches the installed Advance Steel version (e.g. Advance Steel 2026 requires the Object Enabler 2026).
  • Updating: It is best to always install the Object Enabler directly together with the respective Advance Steel main version.
  • Version change: When changing the software generation (e.g. from 2025 to 2026), the old version of the enabler should be uninstalled to avoid conflicts.

Troubleshooting

  • Components remain wireframe: Check in the Navisworks options under File readers -> DWG/DXF whether the render type is set correctly and the DWG loading options use the installed enabler.
  • Download sources: The enablers can be obtained directly via the Autodesk website or the Autodesk Access App (formerly Desktop App).
