4.4. Module 3 (ADVS), Functions of the SuCri modules

This section covers the functions and tools of Module 3 for Advance Steel™ (ADVS). Here you will find instructions for creating and managing connections, maintaining item codes and cut lengths, coordinating parts and importing supports from Plant 3D™.

How to access the functions

• Ribbon: SuCri tab, Module 3 group. The Connections button opens the connection dialog; the manufacturer buttons open the Module 3 window with the Quick Access.
• Tool palette: In the Module 3 window, you pin the functions using the pin icon Pin to tool palette. The palette is divided into the groups Connections, Parts, Update and the collapsed Extras section.
• Command line: All commands start with SuCri3.

4.4.1. Update blocks (SuCri3BatchUpdateBlocks)

This section shows you how to reload all block definitions of the SuCri parts in your active drawing at once.

4.4.2. Update connections (SuCri3BatchUpdateConnections)

This explains how to update the blocks and then rebuild the selected connections. Without a selection, all connections in the drawing are processed.

4.4.3. Place axis system on drawing (SuCri3DrawGridToLayoutPlan)

This article describes how to insert the stored grid of a part into the layout plans of your drawings.

4.4.4. Export anchor list (SuCri3ExportAnchors)

Learn how to export anchor names and anchor coordinates to an Excel list.

4.4.5. Import supports (SuCri3ImportSupports)

In this section you will find information on importing supports that were previously exported in Plant 3D™.

4.4.6. Move connection (SuCri3MoveConnection)

This article explains how to move selected connection parts from a start point to an end point.

4.4.7. Reload Vendor Data (SuCri3ReloadData)

Here you will learn how to clear caches and reload manufacturer data and settings so that changes take effect immediately.

4.4.8. Auto create weld setting

No longer a separate command. You will find the setting in the Settings window on the Module 3 tab. It adds a shop weld after a connection has been created.

4.4.9. Set axis reference (SuCri3SetGridReference)

This describes how to store the grid reference (horizontal and vertical grid) on a part.

4.4.10. Update item codes (SuCri3SetItemCodes)

Learn how to write the item code and cut length to the profiles in Advance Steel™.

4.4.11. Set location point (SuCri3SetLocationPoint)

This article guides you through setting a location point at a selected point on a profile.

4.4.12. Set profiles welded together setting

No longer a separate command. You will find the setting in the Settings window on the Module 3 tab and additionally as the Profiles welded checkbox in the connection dialog.

4.4.13. Tolerance settings (distance and angle tolerance)

No longer a separate command. You set the distance and angle tolerance in the Settings window on the Module 3 tab.

4.4.14. Open Logfile (SuCri3ShowLog)

Learn how to open the SuCri log file to quickly identify inconsistencies in your model.

4.4.15. Open connection dialog (SuCri3ShowSelectConnection)

This article describes the central dialog for selecting the connection type and the connector. The dialog offers seven connection types: Collision, Free end, Crossing, Joint, 3 corner, 4 corner and Parallel. The subarticles describe placement as well as the types Free end, Joint, Collision and Crossing.

4.4.16. Update location points (SuCri3UpdateLocationPoint)

This explains how to bring the location points in your drawing up to date.

4.4.17. Check profile lengths (SuCri3ValidateProfileLength)

In this section you will learn how to check the lengths of your profiles against the SuCri profile data to prevent fabrication errors.

4.4.18. Update or copy connection

In this guide you will learn how to swap existing connections in Advance Steel™ for a different connector or transfer them to other beam combinations.

4.4.19. Deleting a connection

In this article you will learn how to correctly remove connections in Advance Steel™.

Further functions in the tool palette

• Start connections directly: In the Connections group, each of the seven connection types starts immediately with the profile selection, without the first page of the connection dialog: SuCri3ConnectCollision, SuCri3ConnectFreeEnd, SuCri3ConnectCrossing, SuCri3ConnectJoint, SuCri3Connect3Corner, SuCri3Connect4Corner and SuCri3ConnectParallel.
• Validate connections (SuCri3ValidateConnections): checks in the current model whether the connected profiles still match the connections that have been set, and offers valid replacement connections.
• Fix part display (SuCri3FixSpecialPartDisplay): relinks special parts that are only displayed as a bounding box to their block definition so that the geometry becomes visible. Without a selection, all special parts are processed.
• Beam coordinates (SuCri3DrawBeamCoordinates): draws the coordinate systems at both ends of a selected profile.

Settings of Module 3

You edit the options of Module 3 in the Settings window: SuCri tab in the ribbon, Settings button, or command SuCriSettings, and there the Module 3 tab. For details, see 5.2. Module 3 Settings.
