4.5.19. Defining the front view (SuCri4SelectFrontView)
On this page
Overview
Defining the front view determines the viewing direction from which an assembly is derived. This becomes necessary when an assembly is not orthogonal in the model due to the pipe routing and would therefore also not be derived orthogonally.
By default, you would have to derive the drawing, edit the view and rotate the cube for this. Here it happens directly on the 3D model, before anything is even derived.
Where do I find the function?
In the Module 4 window under Drawings, there Define front view. Alternatively via the command line with SuCri4SelectFrontView.

How it works in detail
You select a part of the assembly, confirm and then select a face of this object. A red arrow indicates the viewing direction of the future front view. The direction can be reversed before you confirm.
If the assembly is then derived, the defined direction serves as the front view, and all other views are aligned to it. Only the layout plan continues to show the actual position in the world coordinate system.
Tips and best practices
- Define before deriving: Doing it afterwards is the more cumbersome route via view editing.
- Check the red arrow: It shows the viewing direction, not the face. If the direction is wrong, simply reverse it.
- Keep an overview: With
SuCri4ShowSUFrontViewyou can see all defined front views at once.
