    Overview

    This guide explains how to use the SuCri plugin to automatically fill in dynamic properties for clamping systems in AutoCAD Plant 3D. This is essential in order to display the correct properties of the clamping systems in bills of materials.

    Where do I find the function?

    Call it via the command SuCri2DynamicPropertiesDWG or via the ribbon SuCri > Module 2.

    How it works in detail

    Step 1: Checking the placed components

    Before you run the command, make sure that all required clamping systems and the associated pipes/structures are correctly placed in the model.

    1. Navigate through your 3D model and visually check the positions of the clamping systems.

    Expected result: The clamping systems are attached at the intended locations. In the properties, placeholders such as Undefined_ET are still displayed.

    Step 2: Calling the "Dyn. Properties" command

    The Dyn. Properties command is essential for automatically filling in the system data.

    1. Look for the SuCri tab in the top menu bar.
    2. Within the corresponding group, click the Dyn. Properties button.

    Expected result: The command is activated and the software begins processing the component data.

    Step 3: Execution and monitoring of the processing

    As soon as the command has been executed, SuCri updates the properties in the background.

    1. Observe the command line at the bottom edge of the screen.
    2. Watch for success messages such as properties updated successful.

    Expected result: All relevant clamping systems are provided with specific information such as size, material and type. Placeholders are replaced by concrete values.

    Step 4: Checking the updated properties

    Manually check whether the data was written correctly into the components.

    1. Select a clamping system (e.g. a pipe clamp) in the model.
    2. Open the Properties window (keyboard shortcut CTRL + 1).

    Expected result: The fields in the properties window are fully filled in and no longer contain any Undefined_ET values.

    Step 5: Procedure for component changes

    When changes are made to the model, the synchronization must be triggered again.

    1. Make changes to the model (e.g. moving a clamp or changing a pipe diameter).
    2. Run the Dyn. Properties command again (see Step 2).

    Expected result: The system updates the data based on the new model geometry to ensure consistent bills of materials.

    Tips and best practices

    • Data consistency: Always run the command after significant model changes.
    • Bill of materials relevance: Incomplete dynamic properties lead to faulty material lists.
    • Dependencies: Since properties often depend on the pipe diameter, the referenced components must be modeled correctly.
    • "Spec properties" command: This serves as a reversal and can be used to reset dynamic properties.

    Troubleshooting

    • Problem: Properties remain at "Undefined_ET"

      • Solution 1: Check in the Add-Ins manager whether the SuCri plugin is loaded correctly.
      • Solution 2: Make sure the clamping systems are correctly connected to the pipes.
      • Solution 3: First run Spec properties and then Dyn. Properties again to reset the values.
    • Problem: Command cannot be found

      • Solution 1: Check whether the SuCri tab is active in the ribbon menu.
      • Solution 2: Enter the command (e.g. SUCRIDYNPROPS) directly in the command line.
