7.5.3. Storage location for your own special parts

In this article you will learn how to securely manage your own customisations and special parts in SuCri Module 3. The correct choice of storage location protects your data from unintended data loss during software updates.

Prerequisites

• SuCri Module 3 is installed on your system.
• You have write permissions for the chosen target folder in the file system.

Step-by-step guide

1. Check the storage location: Make sure that you do not store your own components in the standard bundle path of Module 3. This area is reserved exclusively for content supplied with the software.
   Expected result: The bundle path remains in its original state and is ready for future updates.
2. Create a central folder: Create a new, central folder outside the SuCri installation structure, for example on a network drive or a dedicated data path.
   Example: D:\Plant3D\CustomParts\
3. Store the components: Consistently save your own special parts in this newly defined directory.
4. Ensure access: Grant all relevant project participants the necessary read and write permissions for this path.

Important notes

• Security: Your own customisations that are stored in the bundle path are irretrievably lost during updates or reinstallations, since this area is completely overwritten.
• Independence: Through external storage, your components are retained across versions.
• Best practice: Use consistent naming for your subfolders within the custom path in order to maintain clarity in large projects.

Troubleshooting

• Components are not found: Check whether the path D:\Plant3D\CustomParts\ (or your chosen path) is correctly stored in the AutoCAD Plant 3D project settings.
