7.5.3. Storage location for your own special parts

In this article you will learn how to manage your own special parts for SuCri Module 3 in Advance Steel. SuCri loads components exclusively from the Resources\VendorCatalogues folder in the installation folder (bundle folder) SuCri_Module3.bundle; there is no freely selectable external component path. To ensure that your special parts survive an update, also back them up outside the bundle folder.

Prerequisites

• SuCri Module 3 is installed for Advance Steel.
• You have write permissions for the installation folder and for a backup folder.

Step-by-step instructions

1. Create a backup folder: Create a central folder outside the SuCri installation, for example on a network drive.
   Example: D:\Plant3D\CustomParts\
2. Back up special parts: Keep the originals of your own special parts there, in the same folder structure as under Resources\VendorCatalogues\<Hersteller>.
3. Import special parts: Copy the special parts into the matching manufacturer folder under Resources\VendorCatalogues\<Hersteller> and run SuCri3ReloadData ("Reload Vendor Data").
   Expected result: SuCri finds and uses your special parts.
4. Restore after updates: The bundle folder is overwritten during updates or reinstallations. Afterwards, import your special parts again from the backup folder.

Important notes

• Safety: Your own customizations that exist only in the bundle folder are lost during updates or reinstallations.
• No external search path: The backup folder is not read by SuCri. It only serves to keep your components across versions.
• Best practice: Use consistent naming for the subfolders in the backup folder to keep things clear in large projects.

Troubleshooting

• Special parts are not found: Check whether the files are located in the correct manufacturer folder under Resources\VendorCatalogues, and run SuCri3ReloadData.
• Special parts are only displayed as a frame: Run SuCri3FixSpecialPartDisplay ("Fix part display"). The command relinks special parts displayed as bounding boxes to their block definition.
• Missing permissions: Make sure that no Windows restrictions block write access to the installation folder.
