4.2.38. Clamping system Xref [x] (SuCri2SelectMultipleClampFromRef)
On this page
Overview
Clamp Xref [x] adds clamping systems to supports that have already been placed, namely for all supports on a beam that lies in an external reference (Xref). Instead of editing each support individually, you process the entire beam in one pass.
Where can I find the function?
On the SuCri tab, Module 2 group, open the dashboard with your manufacturer button and switch to Turbo Tools. There you will find the Clamp Xref [x] button. If the dashboard is pinned to the tool palette, the command is located in the Multiple Placement section to the right of the variant without Xref, with a link icon and the tooltip Clamp (Xref).
Alternatively, enter SuCri2SelectMultipleClampFromRef in the command line.

How it works in detail
1. Select the beam in the reference: The command line prompts Select nested object in a reference (0 selected):. Click the objects in the external reference one by one. Each selected object is highlighted and the counter increases. Press Enter or use the Done option to finish the selection; use Cancel to abort. Steel profiles as well as supports that serve as a profile are evaluated.
2. Find supports: SuCri searches for all supports that rest on the selected beam.
3. Select clamping system: For the first support, Select available clamp: appears with the permitted clamping systems. The choice is applied to the other supports as far as it is permitted there.
4. Result: All supports found have a clamping system. If you cancel a prompt, the entire pass ends.
Application examples
Example 1: Retrofitting clamps
The supports on a beam of the steel construction reference were placed without clamps. Click the beam in the reference, finish with Done and select the clamping system. All supports on the beam are completed.
Tips and best practices
- Reference type: The Xref does not have to be attached. The Overlay reference type works just as well and is the default. Attach is only necessary if the references are also to appear on the Module 4 drawing.
- Supports in the current drawing: Only the beam may lie in the reference. Supports from an Xref do not receive a clamp.
- Check suggestions: SuCri only offers clamping systems that match the beam size, orientation and support. If nothing is offered, check the clamp data.
- Several beams: Click all affected beams before Done.
Troubleshooting
- Cannot add clamp as the support is from xref: The support itself lies in a reference.
- Cannot find suitable clamp. There is no permitted clamping system for this combination.
- Cannot assign clamp automatically. An error occurred during assignment. Try it on the individual support with Clamp.
