4.2.45. Spec properties (SuCri2UpdatePropertiesFromSpec)

Overview

With the Spec Properties function, you reset the properties of the SuCri supports in the selected drawings to the values of the pipe class (spec). This restores data consistency between the model and the project specification, for example after properties have been changed manually or with Dynamic properties.

Where can I find the function?

"SuCri" tab > "Module 2" panel > manufacturer button of your licensed catalog > dashboard > Properties > Spec Properties.

Alternatively, in the SuCri tool palette under Project > Spec Properties. You open the palette in the dashboard via the pin icon in the title bar ("Pin to tool palette"). The command SuCri2UpdatePropertiesFromSpec can also be entered directly in the command line.

How it works in detail

Step 1: Open the project

1. Open your project in AutoCAD Plant 3D via the Project Manager.

Step 2: Call the SuCri function

1. Start Spec Properties via the dashboard, the tool palette or the command line.

Expected result: The Select Drawings dialog opens.

Step 3: Select the drawings to be updated

1. Under Drawing Source, select either Current Drawing or Project.
2. With Project, mark the desired drawings (individually or with Select All). Locked drawings, for example opened by another user, are grayed out.
3. Confirm with OK.

Step 4: Run the update

1. SuCri only processes drawings that contain supports and resets their support properties to the values of the pipe class.
2. You can see the progress in the progress bar.
3. SuCri saves the processed drawings automatically. Drawings that could not be saved are listed by SuCri in a text file Dynamic_properties_report_<date>.txt in the Documents folder; the file is then opened in the text editor.

Step 5: Check the results

1. Open one of the updated DWG files.
2. Select a SuCri support.
3. Press Ctrl + 1 to open the Properties palette.

Expected result: The properties of the support correspond to the current definitions in the pipe class.

Application examples

Example 1: Discarding manual changes

In a drawing, support properties were overwritten manually. With Spec Properties and the drawing source Current Drawing, you reset them to the pipe class.

Example 2: Restarting the dynamic properties

If values remain incorrect after Dynamic properties, first run Spec Properties and then Dynamic properties again.

Tips and best practices

• Backup: Always create a backup copy of your project before running the function, as SuCri saves the drawings automatically and there is no global "Undo" function.
• Data quality: The function takes over the data "as is". Errors in the pipe class are therefore transferred directly to the supports.
• Performance: For very large projects, the update can take some time. If necessary, run the process in smaller batches.

Troubleshooting

• Command missing: Check in the AutoCAD application manager whether the SuCri plugin is loaded correctly and whether the version is compatible with your Plant 3D version.
• Properties not updated: Check whether the drawing contains supports and whether it could be selected in the dialog (not locked). Make sure that the pipe class is accessible in the project path.
• Drawing listed in the report: The drawing could not be saved. Have other users close it and run the command again.
• System crash: Reduce the number of drawings to be processed at the same time and close other memory-intensive applications.
