4.4.10. Update item codes (SuCri3SetItemCodes)

Overview

Update item codes sets the item codes of the profiles in Advance Steel™ fully automatically and also writes the cut length to each profile. The background: Standard Advance Steel™ profiles usually have no item code, whereas the profiles of system steel construction do.

Only profiles are processed, i.e. straight beams, compound beams and poly beams. Plates, special parts and other components remain unchanged.

Where can I find the function?

In the Module 3 window under Quick Access > Update Itemcode and Cutlength. If Module 3 is pinned to the tool palette, you will find the function in the Parts group under Itemcode & cut length. Alternatively via the command line with SuCri3SetItemCodes.

How it works in detail

Scope: If you selected objects before calling the command, SuCri processes only these. Without a preselection, all profiles of the drawing are processed.
Cut length: For each profile, SuCri writes the length to user attribute 9. It is rounded to the number of decimal places specified in the Module 3 settings under Cut length decimal places (Settings window, command SuCriSettings, Module 3 tab). User attribute 9 is also used for numbering.
Item code: SuCri looks up the profile designation in the SuCri profile data (ProfileData.json). If it is found, SuCri sets the item code on the profile.

Application examples

Example: Processing only part of the drawing

You have added profiles in one area of the plant. Select these profiles before calling the command. SuCri updates the item code and cut length only for the selected profiles; the rest of the drawing remains unchanged.

Tips and best practices

Supplied profiles only: The item code is set for profiles that are stored in the SuCri profile data. If the item code remains empty, the profile designation is not contained there. Details can be found in the log file.
Run again after length changes: The cut length is only written during this call. If you change profile lengths, call the command again.

Troubleshooting

The profile data could not be loaded. Check ProfileData.json and the log file. The SuCri profile data is missing or damaged. In this case, no item codes are set.
Item code remains empty: The profile designation is not contained in the profile data. The log file names the designations concerned.
Plates or special parts without item code: Expected behavior, the command only processes profiles.
