4.5.17. Update view (SuCri4PlantOrthoDrawArea)

Overview

Update View brings a single viewport up to date while all others remain unchanged. This allows you to design individual views differently from the rest of the drawing. The bill of materials of the drawing is updated as well.

Where can I find the function?

In the Module 4 window under Drawings, there Update View. If Module 4 is pinned to the tool palette, you will find the function in the Update & Scale group under Update View. Alternatively, via the command line with SuCri4PlantOrthoUpdate.

How it works in detail

The command only works in the layout of an ortho drawing.

1. At Select ortho view to update:, select the viewport.
2. At Do you want to replace old annotation and dimensions?, specify how existing dimensions and annotations are to be handled:
   • 0. Append: keep existing ones and add new ones.
   • 1. Replace Auto Generated (default): replace only automatically generated ones.
   • 2. Replace All: replace all.
   • 3. No Change: do not change dimensions and annotations.

Only this one viewport is updated; SuCri then updates the bill of materials.

This allows you, for example, to create a view that shows only part of the assembly: first remove parts from the assembly in the model with Detach (SuCri4DetachSupport), then update this one viewport. Afterwards, attach the parts again in the model with Attach (SuCri4AttachSupport) so that the assembly is complete. The individually updated viewport stays as it is.

Tips and best practices

• Restore the assembly afterwards: Otherwise the parts are missing from the bill of materials and all other views.
• Check the bill of materials: Because SuCri also updates the bill of materials when updating, check after a partial view whether the bill of materials contains all parts of the assembly.
• All at once: If all views are to be updated, SuCri4PlantOrthoUpdateAllView is the right command.

Troubleshooting

• Wrong drawing: If SuCri reports that the command only works in an ortho drawing or only in a layout, open the ortho drawing and switch from the Model tab to the layout.
• View still shows detached parts: Use Select in the model to check whether the parts are really detached from the assembly, and update the view again.
