In this article, you learn why the TurboTools may not suggest or place any components and how you can fix this behavior. A correctly configured working environment is a prerequisite for the automated functions to work without errors.

Prerequisites

  • An open AutoCAD Plant 3D project.
  • Installed and licensed TurboTools.

Step-by-step instructions

  1. Actively select the pipe spec: In the Plant 3D user interface, select the desired pipe spec that contains the required components.
  2. Check the pipe spec: Make sure that the active pipe spec actually contains the relevant elements (e.g. supports or valves). If necessary, extend the pipe spec via the Spec Editor.
  3. Run the TurboTools again: Only restart the TurboTools after the pipe spec has been selected successfully.

Expected result: The matching components from the active pipe spec are now displayed in the tool selection of the TurboTools and can be placed in the model.

Important notes

  • TurboTools check the active pipe spec stored in the project to filter available components.
  • In projects with many pipe specs, use a clear naming convention to rule out mix-ups.
  • If the tool selection remains empty, this is almost always an indication of a missing or incomplete pipe spec.

Troubleshooting

If no components appear despite an active pipe spec:

  • Check whether the components in the pipe spec are available for the current nominal size (Size).
  • Make sure that the pipe spec is correctly linked in the Project Manager and is not write-protected or corrupted.
