4.2.2. Selection (SuCri2SelectSupport)

    Overview

With the Selection function, all components with the same SU number are selected simultaneously in AutoCAD Plant 3D. This allows a complete support assembly to be selected in a single step, in order to check, move, edit or verify it for completeness, without having to search for each individual part manually. The SU number is assigned during attaching and logically holds the parts of an assembly together; the selection evaluates exactly this number.

    Video: Selection in practice

    How it works in detail

When the Selection function is started, the AutoCAD selection box appears. With it you select a component (support or steel profile) with an assigned SU number. SuCri reads out its SU number and then automatically adds all further profiles and supports with the same SU number to the selection.

What matters is solely the SU number set via Attaching, not the spatial proximity: parts that are geometrically separate but belong to the same assembly are also selected. A number entered by hand into the AutoCAD property „SuNo“ is not sufficient for this; only parts that were grouped via the Attaching function are evaluated.

    Application examples

Example 1: Check the completeness of an assembly

For a visual check of whether a support assembly is fully defined: one click on a part marks the entire assembly, so missing or incorrectly assigned parts are immediately noticeable.

Example 2: Edit or move an assembly together

If all parts of a support are to be moved, copied or changed in their properties together, select the assembly completely with one click and apply the desired AutoCAD command to the entire selection.

    Tips and best practices

    • Only select the component type support or steel profile; pipes do not belong to the SU.
    • The components must first be grouped with the Attaching command and the property „SuNo“ (AutoCAD property) must be filled in.
    • Entering the SuNo property by hand has no effect; only parts that were added with Attaching are selected.

    Troubleshooting

    • Button grayed out: Check whether the plugin is loaded correctly and whether you are in an editable P3D file.
    • Object not selectable: Make sure that the component is not on a locked layer or part of an external reference (XRef).
    • Nothing lights up: Check the command line for error messages. The selected object may not be the correct object type for this function.
