4.5.4. Change scale of the selected view (SuCri4ChangeViewScale)

Updated on 20/10/2026

On this page

    Overview

Change scale of the selected view scales a single view of an ortho drawing and moves dimensions, annotations and centerlines along with it. In standard Plant 3D™, the dimensioning is left behind when scaling and must be deleted and placed again.

Where can I find the function?

Command line: SUCRI4ChangeViewScale. There is no button for this in the Module 4 window.

If the Module 4 window is pinned to the tool palette, the function is located on the Module 4 tab of the SuCri tool palette in the collapsed Extras group, Scale View button.

    How it works in detail

    1. Select view: The command line prompts "Select ortho view to update:". Click the view at its frame. If your selection covers several viewports, all selected ones are scaled.

    2. Define handling of existing dimensions: The command line asks "Do you want to replace old annotation and dimensions?" with these options:

      • 0. Append: Existing dimensions and annotations remain, and the new ones are added.
      • 1. Replace Auto Generated (default): Only the dimensions and annotations generated by SuCri for this view are deleted and placed again. Manually placed ones are retained.
      • 2. Replace All: In addition, all dimensions located in the area of the viewport are deleted, including manually placed ones.
      • 3. No Change: Only scaling is performed; dimensions and annotations are neither deleted nor regenerated.
    3. Select scale: The current scale of the view is preselected. The Select Ortho View Scale window shows the scales from the Standard view scales setting (StandardViewScale), provided they exist in the drawing as annotation scales. Via Custom you enter your own scale. Apply with OK.

    4. Result: SuCri changes the scale and adjusts the size of each viewport in the same ratio so that the visible section is retained. The centerlines of the profiles are placed again according to the Show profile centerlines setting. Except with No Change, SuCri regenerates the dimensioning of the orthographic views or the annotation of the iso views and places the view headers again.

    Application examples

    Example 1: Reducing a view

The side view takes up too much space. You select it at its frame, keep the default Replace Auto Generated and set 1:20. Dimensioning and centerlines are adjusted in seconds.

    Example 2: Enlarging a detail

A view with many small parts is enlarged to 1:5 so that the dimensions remain legible. The other views remain unchanged.

    Tips and best practices

    • Select at the frame: A click inside the view hits objects in it, not the viewport.
    • All views: If all views are to be scaled, SUCRI4ChangeAllViewScale is faster.

    Troubleshooting

    • Wrong drawing: The command only runs in a layout of an ortho drawing. In a 3D model drawing or on the "Model" tab, SuCri reports this and aborts. Switch to the layout of the ortho drawing and start the command again.
    • "Your selection set contains an invalid object": No ortho viewport was hit. Select the view at its frame.
    • Desired scale is missing: It is not included in the standard view scales or does not exist as an annotation scale in the drawing. Use Custom.
