In this article you will learn how to optimize the row height of tables in Module 4 drawings within AutoCAD or Plant 3D. Correct scaling improves readability and ensures a professional presentation of your bills of materials, item lists or pipe lists.

Prerequisites

  • You have an ortho drawing open in AutoCAD or Plant 3D.
  • The drawing already contains a generated table (e.g. a SuCri bill of materials).

Step-by-step instructions

  1. In the command line of AutoCAD / Plant 3D, enter the command TABLESTYLE to open the Table Style Manager.
  2. In the list, select the currently used table style (for example Standard or AS_PartsList).
  3. Click the Modify button.
  4. In the following dialog window, switch to the Text or Borders tab for the corresponding cell styles (Data, Title or Header).
  5. Adjust the desired height under the item Text height or via the Cell margins (horizontal/vertical spacing). Since SuCri relies on the standard functions of the CAD engine, the row height is largely defined by these values.
  6. Confirm your changes with OK and close the manager. The table in your drawing is automatically updated with the new cell height.

Expected result: The spacing within the table is now scaled so that the text is neither squeezed nor takes up unnecessarily much space.

Important notes

  • Consistency: If necessary, create a project-specific table style to ensure a uniform presentation in all drawings.
  • Template management: Save the customized table style directly in your project template (DWT file). This way all future drawings automatically use the correct format.
  • Software independence: Since this adjustment is done entirely via AutoCAD standard functions, no change within the SuCri configuration is required.

Troubleshooting

  • Table does not update: If the changes are not immediately visible, select the table and use the command REGEN (regenerate) or click "Apply table style to selection" in the context menu.
  • Texts are cut off: Check whether the text height was chosen too large in relation to the cell margins. In this case, reduce the margins or the font size.
