8.3.2. No suitable clamping system found in TurboTools

Learn how to proceed when the Turbo Tools of Module 2 cannot find a suitable clamping system for a pipe. This guide helps you interpret the messages in the command line correctly, recognize geometry conflicts and check the settings that restrict the selection.

Prerequisites

• The pipe and the steel structure are positioned correctly in the model.
• You are using one of the Turbo Tools with a clamping system, e.g. SuCri2AutoSelectClamp or SuCri2AutoSelectSupportClamp.

Step-by-step instructions

1. Read the command line

   If SuCri does not find a clamping system, the message "Cannot find suitable clamp." appears in the command line. If a clamp only fits with a slightly changed pipe position, SuCri instead states the required displacement, e.g. "To use … please move the pipe … closer to the profile" or "… far from profile …".

   Result: You know whether no clamp fits at all or whether only the position of the pipe is incorrect.

2. Adjust the pipe

   If SuCri states a displacement, move the pipe by the specified value and start the tool again. If there is fundamentally not enough space, change the position or elevation of the pipe if possible to create clearance for standard fastening systems.

   Result: The geometry now allows automatic selection.

3. Check the restriction to the spec

   In the "Settings" window (command SuCriSettings), "Module 2" tab, "Turbo Tools" group, check the setting Limit clamps to current spec. If it is activated, SuCri only offers clamps that are contained in the current spec (pipe spec). By default, it is deactivated.

   Result: You can see whether the clamp you are looking for is excluded by the spec.

4. Choose an alternative fastening

   If no clamping system fits, manually select a different type of fastening from the catalog or place the support via a secondary steel structure.

   Result: A technically feasible solution is implemented manually.

Important notes

• Space requirement: In tight installation situations, always check in advance whether a fastening system can technically be placed at all.
• Special cases: For complex geometries, supports should be placed manually.
• Catalog scope: The Turbo Tools only suggest components whose parameters match the existing installation situation.

Troubleshooting

• Problem: No clamp is suggested even though there is sufficient space.
  • Solution: Check whether "Limit clamps to current spec" is active and whether the suitable clamp is contained in the current spec. Also check whether the pipe outside diameter is covered by the clamping system.
• Problem: The console collides with the steel structure.
  • Solution: Adjust the distance to the steel structure or manually select a shorter console variant.
