4.3.5. Reload SuCri resources (SuCri3ReloadData)

    Overview

With Reload SuCri resources, you apply changed manufacturer data and Module 3 settings without having to restart Plant 3D™. SuCri clears its caches and reads the manufacturer catalogs from the hard disk again.

Important: You actually only need this command if you do not want to close Advance Steel™ or Plant 3D™. On a restart, the SuCri resources are loaded anyway.

Where can I find the function?

In the Module 3 window under Quick Access > Reload Vendor Data, with Module 3 pinned to the tool palette in the Update group under Reload Vendor Data, or via the command line with SuCri3ReloadData.

Video: Reload SuCri resources in practice

    How it works in detail

The command runs without any further prompt and performs three steps:

    1. The caches for components and connection data are cleared.
    2. The Module 3 settings are read again from the sucri3_settings.json file. This also applies changes that were made directly in this file.
    3. The manufacturer catalogs are read in again from the VendorCatalogues folder in the Module 3 resource folder.

After that, all further Module 3 commands work with the newly loaded state. The connection dialog (SuCri3ShowSelectConnection) also reloads the manufacturer data when it is opened.

    Application examples

Example 1: Importing new manufacturer data

You have replaced the Module 3 folders under the Application Plugins with a newer version. Then run SuCri3ReloadData so that Plant 3D™ works with the new data without a restart.

Example 2: Adapting components to new data

After reloading, you bring components and connections that have already been placed up to date with SuCri3BatchUpdateBlocks or SuCri3BatchUpdateConnections.

    Tips and best practices

    • Restart as an alternative: If you are restarting Advance Steel™ or Plant 3D™ anyway, the command is not necessary. The resources are loaded automatically at startup.
    • Keep to the order: First replace the files, then run the command. Otherwise, the old state is loaded again.
    • Existing components remain unchanged: Reloading does not change anything in the drawing. The update commands are responsible for components and connections that have already been placed.

    Troubleshooting

    • New components do not appear: Check whether the new files are in the correct folder of the installed plugin, and run the command again.
    • Command does not respond: The command requires a valid license for Module 3.
