Updated on 20/10/2026

On this page

    Overview

Detach Xref removes individual reference parts from an assembly again. If an assembly was formed with Attaching with reference, its reference parts are changed with this command. The normal Detach only affects parts of the active drawing.

Where can I find the function?

    Command line: SuCri4DetachXref.

If the Module 4 window is pinned to the tool palette, the function is located on the Module 4 tab of the SuCri tool palette in the collapsed Xrefs group, Detach Xref button.

    How it works in detail

    1. Select reference parts: Immediately after the start, the command line prompts "Select nested object in a reference (0 selected):". Click the parts of the reference that are to be removed from the assembly. The counter shows how many are selected.

    2. Finish: Press Enter or use the Done option to end the selection.

    3. Detach: SuCri removes the selected parts from the reference list of all assemblies in the drawing that contain these parts. An assembly does not have to be selected beforehand.

    4. Orthocube: The following applies to each affected assembly: If the affected assembly already has an orthocube, SuCri asks in the Recreate Ortho Cube window whether it should be regenerated ("… already has an ortho cube. Do you want to recreate it?"). The default is No. With Yes, SuCri deletes the existing cube and regenerates it to match the new scope of the assembly.

    Application examples

    Example 1: Excluding vertical beams

The assembly contains two vertical profiles from the reference that do not belong on the drawing. You select exactly these two, confirm with Done and have the orthocube regenerated. Afterwards, only the supports and the horizontal profile are derived.

Example 2: Narrowing the scope step by step

For a large assembly, you remove individual parts one after the other and check with the orthocube after each step whether the derivation fits.

    Tips and best practices

    • Choose the right command: This command is responsible for reference parts, SuCri4DetachSupport for parts of the active drawing.
    • Reference parts used more than once: If the same reference part is assigned to several assemblies, it is removed from all of them.
    • Everything at once: If all reference parts of an assembly are to be removed, this is faster with SuCri4DetachAllXref.
    • Cube as a check: SuCri4ShowOrthoCube reliably shows what is actually derived.

    Troubleshooting

    • Wrong drawing: The command only runs in a 3D model drawing. If an ortho drawing is active, SuCri reports this and cancels. Open the 3D model and start the command again.
    • Nothing happens: There is no assembly with reference parts in the drawing, or the selected parts did not belong to any assembly.
