8.3.7. No suitable support found in TurboTools

Learn how to solve problems with placing pipe supports using TurboTools. Check the geometry, adjust the pipe and select alternative fastenings. Recommendations for use in tight installation situations are also provided.

Problem description

When using TurboTools to place pipe supports, it can happen that no suitable support is suggested or displayed.

Cause

This behavior occurs if the distance to the steel structure is too small, or the outside diameter of the pipe does not fit within the range.

• In such cases, no suitable supports (e.g. pipe clamps) can be selected automatically.
• TurboTools searches the catalog for possible combinations, but does not find any components that fit sensibly into the existing geometry.

Solution

• Check the geometry

Measure the distance between the pipe and the steel structure.

Make sure that there is enough space for the planned fastening.

• Adjust the pipe

If possible, change the position or height of the pipe so that fastening systems fit.

• Select an alternative fastening

If no standard clamping system fits, manually select or place a different type of fastening (e.g. via secondary steel).

• Check the catalog

Make sure that the suitable fastening elements are present and activated in the catalog used.

• Check the steel construction catalog

Make sure that the profile you want to connect to is also present in the steel construction catalog.

Recommendation

• In tight installation situations, check in advance whether a fastening system can be placed at all from a technical point of view.
• For special cases: place fastenings manually or add them via individual adjustments in the catalog.
