Correcting the display of XREF profiles on drawings

In Plant 3D it can happen that geometries from external references (XREFs) are visible in the 3D model but are missing on the drawing derived with SuCri Module 4 (M4). Learn here how, by choosing the correct reference type, you can ensure that all required profiles are displayed correctly.

    Prerequisites

    • The 3D model in Plant 3D is open.
    • The external DWG file (e.g. steel construction or building floor plan) is present in the project directory.

    Step-by-step instructions

    1. Check the current integration of the XREF in the 3D model. If the profiles are missing on the drawing, this is usually due to the reference type Overlay.
    2. Open the XREF Manager and remove the existing reference if it is configured incorrectly.
    3. Navigate to the menu item Insert and select the function XRef.
    4. In the dialog window, select the corresponding file and click Attach.
Expected result: The XREF is integrated as an integral part of the project context.
    5. Save the 3D model.
    6. Restart the drawing creation via SuCri Module 4.
Expected result: The XREF geometries are now displayed consistently on the derived drawing.

    Important notes

    • Reference type: For all project-related data, always use the type Attach. Only then is the geometry processed when deriving the drawing.
    • Overlay: The type Overlay should be used exclusively for temporary auxiliary constructions that explicitly should not appear on the final drawing.
    • Best practice: After integrating new XREFs, perform a short test run of the drawing creation to immediately validate the correct display.

    Troubleshooting

    • Problem: The profiles are not visible despite type "Attach".
Solution: Check the layer settings within the XREF file as well as the visibility settings in Module 4. Make sure that the layers are not set to "Frozen" or "Off".
