4.3.2. Update all connections in the active DWG (SuCri3BatchUpdateConnections)

    Overview

With Update all connections in the active DWG you rebuild all SuCri connections of the current drawing in one pass. This is necessary if a manufacturer has changed the composition of a connection. You do not have to select the connections individually for this.

A second benefit: because each connection is recreated from its stored data, grip edits on individual components are reverted.

Where can I find the function?

Enter the command SuCri3BatchUpdateConnections in the command line. If Module 3 is pinned to the tool palette, you will find the function there in the Update group under Update connections.

Video: Updating all connections in practice

    How it works in detail

Before starting, SuCri checks the visual style of the current viewport. If a style whose name begins with Shaded is active, the command aborts with the message Invalid View Mode. In that case, switch for example to Wireframe, Conceptual or Realistic.

The process consists of two steps:

    1. First, the block definitions of all SuCri components are updated, exactly as with SuCri3BatchUpdateBlocks.
    2. Then the connections are rebuilt. If you selected connection boxes before calling the command, SuCri processes only these. Without a preselection, all connection boxes in model space are included. The command line reports the number of connection boxes found.

During the update, a progress window (Updating connections...) shows the number of connections and the connections already updated. You can cancel the run via Stop. Each connection is recreated with its stored component and its stored profiles. Finally, the command line reports Batch update completed. Updated n P3D connections. Connections that could not be rebuilt are listed in the log file.

    Application examples

Example 1: Manufacturer change to a connection

After an update of the manufacturer data, the structure of a connector has changed. Calling the command once brings all connections of the drawing up to date.

    Example 2: Accidentally distorted connections

Individual components of a connection were moved via grips. Select the affected connection boxes and start the command to reset only these connections to their original state.

    Tips and best practices

    • Intentional grip edits are lost: If a connection was deliberately adjusted via the grips, this adjustment is reverted during the rebuild.
    • Control the scope via the selection: Without a preselection, all connections of the drawing are updated. For individual connections, select their connection boxes beforehand.
    • Single connection: A single connection can also be updated via the context menu of its connection box (SuCri Connection > Update).

    Troubleshooting

    • Message Invalid View Mode: The current visual style begins with Shaded. Set a different visual style and start the command again.
    • No P3D wireframe polylines found to update: The drawing does not contain any SuCri connections, or the preselection does not contain a connection box.
    • Individual connections are not updated: Check the log file with SuCri3ShowLog. There is an error entry there for each connection that was not updated.
