Hiding viewport frames in Module 4 drawings

In this article you will learn how to optimize the visual appearance of your Module 4 drawings by hiding distracting viewport frames. By pre-freezing the corresponding layer in the drawing template, the frames remain invisible while the actual view content continues to be displayed correctly.

Prerequisites

  • Access to the ortho template (DWT file) that serves as the basis for your Module 4 projects.
  • Basic knowledge of layer management in Plant 3D.

Step-by-step guide

  1. Open the ortho template (DWT file) that is used to create your Module 4 drawings.
  2. Open the Layer Properties Manager.
  3. Locate the layer Defpoints or Mansfen (the name depends on your specific configuration or version).
  4. Click the icon in the Freeze column for the corresponding layer to pre-freeze it.
  5. Save the template.

Expected result: When you now generate a new Module 4 drawing, the viewports are created correctly in the background, but the frames remain invisible. On the finished drawing, only the content of the view is visible.

Important notes

  • Best practice: Make this change directly in the project template. This ensures that all future drawings automatically get the correct representation without frames.
  • Warning: Only freeze the layer. It must not be deleted or locked, because Plant 3D technically needs the layer to ensure the control of the views in the background.
  • This method uses standard functions of Plant 3D and is fully compatible with SuCri Module 4.

Troubleshooting

If the frames are still visible despite the changes, please check whether the viewport in the template may be located on a custom layer and adjust it accordingly.
