7.3.1. What does the ForceOverwriteDynamicProp setting do
On this page
In this article you learn the meaning of the ForceOverwriteDynProp setting in connection with the dynamic properties of your components. This setting governs whether clamp data is automatically written into the component properties in order to control data consistency.
Prerequisites
You are in the configuration of the dynamic properties within your software environment.
Step-by-step guide
To understand and, if necessary, adjust the ForceOverwriteDynamicProp setting, use the following definition logic as a guide:
- Check the current value: In your settings, look for the parameter ForceOverwriteDynProp.
-
Setting to "0" (default):
If you leave this value at
0, clamp data (e.g. information on the clamping systems used) is not written into the catalog properties by default.Expected result: System performance is conserved and component properties remain lean.
-
Setting to "1":
If you set the value to
1, clamp data is written automatically and permanently into the component properties with every operation.Expected result: All clamping system information is stored directly on the component.
Important notes
- Default recommendation: It is recommended to leave the value at
0, unless there is a specific technical reason for a change. - Best practice: Switching to
1only makes sense if your workflows mandatorily require that all clamp data be permanently documented in the properties. - Data consistency: Note that the setting can have effects on your MTO data (Material Take Off).
Troubleshooting
- Inconsistent MTO data: If clamping system information is missing or incompletely transferred in your evaluations, check whether switching the value to
1is required. In certain constellations, the default value0can lead to not all required information being captured for the material take-off.
