4.3.9. Open error log (SuCri3ShowLog)
On this page
Overview
Open error log shows the Module 3 log file. It contains notes, warnings and error messages with timestamps. This lets you trace what happened in the last steps, even if a message on the command line has long since scrolled away.
Where can I find the function?
In the Module 3 window under Quick Access > Open Logfile, in the Module 3 tool palette in the Extras group (collapsed area) under Open Logfile, or via the command line with SuCri3ShowLog.

Video: Open error log in practice
How it works in detail
The command opens the log file of the current day in Windows Notepad. SuCri creates a separate file for each day; the date is part of the file name. If no file exists for the day yet, an empty file is created and opened.
Each entry begins with the date and time, followed by the type of entry (INFO, WARNING or ERROR) and the message. Many Module 3 commands write details here that do not appear on the command line, for example which blocks or connections could not be updated.
Application examples
Example 1: Connection was not created
The connection dialog returns without a result. Open the log file and read the last entries to narrow down the cause.
Example 2: Preparing a support request
Copy the entries around the time of the problem and attach them to your support request.
Tips and best practices
- Search by time: The file collects all entries of the day. Search specifically for the time at which the problem occurred.
- For support: The relevant excerpt from the log file is the most useful addition to a support request.
Troubleshooting
- The file is empty: No entries have been written yet on the current day. Entries from earlier days are in the files with the respective date.
